:| I feel really bad writing this but I'm not happy about the new FMA series being made. I mean, I'm happy for the people who are glad and like the manga storyline but I'm really afraid that the first series is going to be disregarded/bashed and I'm soooo scared of that. I heard Funimation is making an announcement about the new series at Ohayocon this month and I'm going to Ohayocon, and I bet it's that they're either licensing it or rehiring the same voice actors if that's already been decided. It's nuts. I loved loved loved the English dub sooooo much but I totally loved the first anime, the series and the movie were totally awesome and I liked the differences between the anime and manga. I just . . . don't like the manga's differing characterizations or the origin of the homunculi and I liked all the little things of the anime, like Scar and Lust's background or whatever, and even though I hate Dante I like that she's the main villian, not some dude named Father. ARGHHHHHH. But I don't think I can resist more Vic, Aaron and Travis as Ed, Al and Roy. I also heard the manga is more depressing and I cannot actually handle the image of Ed in a wheelchair (when Roy first meets Ed, unlike the anime when Ed is lying "asleep" and Roy has this oddly soft look on his face). Or Havoc paralyzed. SO DEPRESSING. Oh, man. I like the movie so much, too. Eyepatch!Roy is sooo cute and Ed is magnificent as usual and Al is so cute (and the stuff he says when he joins Ed in our world is just swoon worthy, I cannot believe I just typed "swoon worthy" but it's true. I had actually forgotten they were making a new series until I read something on the fm_alchemist community and I know I should stop being a baby about it because NO ONE is forcing me to watch (or not) the new series, I guess I'm just afraid of fandom's reaction. Which is insane because I'm not really even into the fandom, despite stalking a few author's stuff. I don't even care about anyone's opinion of the series and movie because I loved both so much (especially the movie, it's good closure for the series and really made the ending bearable and it tied up a lot of loose ends, so I was incredibly happy with it).

Even Ed and Al's relationship in the manga isn't as intense as it is in the anime and I just loved that in the anime. Everytime Al went "Brother!" or Ed was ridiculously protective and gentle with Al, I just like . . . melted. This is so creepy of me but I really liked how they acted like they were all they had in the world although I am glad they realized that members of the military were trustworthy, like Roy (eventually haha), Hughes, Maria Ross . . . Oh, boo. I hate that I can't just be rational about this and say I'll just ignore it because I'm afraid all the people squeeing about the new series are just going to piss me off because I thought the first series and movie were as close to perfect as any story could be. There were very few things I didn't like about the series (Al losing his memory at the end, I thought it was cruel and unnecessary -- this is why I actually think the movie is necessary for proper closure of the series, personally anyway and I'm not going to change that opinion unless my heart falls out of my chest haha)

Boo hoo, I'm going to read Closer and forget this happened.

Roy/Ed Rec List!

Annoying Long Note: Roy/Ed is my OTP, which I think works in idea more than actual execution.

I’m going to be honest here and say that I don’t like the majority of the Roy/Ed stories in the fandom. I find either Roy or Ed to be majorly out of character and I really can’t see Ed starting anything with Roy during the series, or vice versa. I'm not even going to start on the Roy-seduces-Ed stories because, um, Roy's moral code is strict, a lot like Ed's. They swallow a lot to achieve their goals but they draw a firm line at certain things and so I don't see Roy going anywhere near Ed if he thinks he himself's in any way pushed Ed into it. Roy wouldn't do that. He's a jerk and does weird things sometimes, but he's got a strict moral code and he really does care about people, especially not hurting them. That's why people like Hughes and Hawkeye want him to run the country. And if they were somehow to get together, Roy would treat Ed well, he's not some abusive bastard, he wouldn't go around dating other people on the sly because of his own immaturity or fear of committment. He's more aware of himself than that and he tries so freaking hard to protect Ed in the show that it makes no sense he would hurt Ed in that way. Too much Roy/Ed is wildly OOC on Roy's side and I wish I could laugh at it but the sheer amount of people taking it seriously horrifies me.

rainjoyswriting—read everything by her, including her mpregverse. DO IT. Her characterizations are 100% spot on. She understands Ed and Roy like no one else and her stories really show that. They're realistic and really uphold the quality of the show. Yum and she has a very distinct style that makes me feel all fuzzy. No one else's stories ring true to me the way hers do.

Awesome, awesome. It's so fucking romantic, I love it to little bits. There are soo many things right about the story that I'm not even going to start to name them.
